PLYMOUTH WORKS OFFERS HELP TO BUSINESSES
Announcing the creation of a business support project managed by EPL, supported by Careers SW (Connexions). The initiative aims to assist Micro SMEs (i.e. employing fewer than 10 people) in providing job opportunities for young people who have left full time education, but have not yet found work. Each person has been provided with pre-employment support (training, skills assessment and career guidance) by Connexions.
Plymouth Works can provide :-
- Employment Subsidy – The subsidy is to a maximum of £650 enabling the Owner/Manager to offset some of the costs of induction over the first six months of employment. Other forms of support can be linked in to further help each business.
- On – the – Job support – using EPL’s networks, by tapping into Chamber, Construction Skills & other sources, Plymouth Works will enable the participating Owner/Managers to establish the policies and practices required by law, so that the new employee being introduced can maximise their potential and add value to the business operation. The job needs to be sustained for at least six months.
- The Employee in waiting – will be a young person aged 16 – 19, not yet confident about the world, but willing to grab an opportunity to make the most of their first chance in the workplace.
Plymouth WorksWe have been operational since September 2009 and the first phase will continue through to March 2010. Contacts can be made, either through Richard Senior or Emma Larsen at Careers SW or Lyn Yeatman at EPL. (Richard / Emma on: 01752 265851 or Lyn on: 01752 500360)
There is no limit to how many any individual business may engage on the Plymouth Works programme, but time is short and we shall need to spend some time with you first to establish what the needs in your business are, so that we can then make sure we slot in the right person with an appropriate skills set that will be of benefit to you and your business.
Please contact us as soon as you can, on (01752) 265851 or 500360 to learn more or fix a date with one of the Plymouth Works team.
