SOUTH WEST DESIGN FORUM LAUNCHES SECTOR DEVELOPMENT PLAN
Clusters based in Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset and the West of England have worked together to produce a development plan for the Design sector in the South West.
Cornwall Design Forum, Designed in Devon, Dorset Design Forum, Gloucestershire Design Network, Somerset Design Enterprise Network and the West of England Design Forum have joined forces as the South West Design Forum to become the voice of design in the region and they now represent nearly 2000 design professionals.
The new development plan provides the groups with a blueprint for the delivery of support and promotion across the industry.
As part of that development plan this Autumn saw the launch of a pilot programme of CPD for designers. Professionals were offered a series of 5 courses developed in association with 5 Universities in the South West and delivered as a roadshow across the region.
Karen Stockdale, Manager of the South West Design Forum, said “The plan has given the sector a shared vision and focus and as a result we’ve got some very exciting initiatives to announce in the New Year. Our 2010 Summit to be held on 18th March will give us a great opportunity to launch some excellent projects and interventions that will help individuals and companies working in Design to improve their skills, share best practice and develop their businesses.”
