Designed in Devon, the cluster group that represents designers from across the county, has set up local chapters in order to better serve it’s members.
Part of the South West Design Forum, Designed in Devon holds events across the region that allow members to network, discover new technologies and socialise with likeminded people.
The new chapters will be based in Exeter, Plymouth, and Torbay. Each will hold their own events, as well as coming together to hold larger, county wide, Designed in Devon events.
Richard Holt from the Centre for Creative Industries will be running the Exeter chapter, the Plymouth chapter by Designed in Devon Chair Korash Sanjideh, and Torbay chapter will be lead by Martin McCulley, from Fruition design.
Each of the chapters will be staging their own high profile events next year, including collaborations with other design networks, and Extended Play – Plymouth’s Games Design event.
Korash Sanjideh, Chair of Designed, said: “This is a very exciting time for Designed in Devon, as we are showing that we have a real commitment to the county’s designer community. The city-specific chapters will allow us to cater to the individual needs of the design community better, by providing the events and information they need on the ground. It will also make our county-wide events even stronger and will encourage a stronger bond between the designers in each city, allowing for cross city collaboration and business generation.”
Designed in Devon are also looking to set up chapters in North Devon, and if anyone is interested in developing a chapter, they should contact Korash by email directly on chair@designedindevon.co.uk.
