INK DOT SUMMER SHOW
Ink Dot, an innovative Designer Poster project was born 18 months ago by three up and coming Bristol creative businesses; a graphic designer, an illustrator and a print company.
Ink Dot’s summer show ‘Escape’ runs from 17 June to 11 July in Howies art gallery above their store on Queens Rd, Clifton. This is Ink-dot’s 5th show in 18 months, following on from the highly successful ‘Spare Time’ over Christmas 2009 which featured work from 35 designers.
‘Escape’ features work form more than 30 of Bristol’s most innovative established talent, including pieces by Lorenzo, Peskimo, Dylan Shipley (Sun and Moon Studios, and Bristol’s Street Wars team), Ged Palmer, Daniel Capo (Aardman), Marcus Walters (New Future Graphics), Ben Steers (Start Gallery), Danny Capozzi. Also featuring work from new up and coming designers, Ink Dot is open to any designers or illustrators who wish to enter.
Ink Dot’s ethos is simple, we set a title and a colour pallette and wait to see what poster gems the designers create. The title for our summer project ‘Escape’ has a colour palette of light blue, cream, dark blue, red/pink, yellow and green plus black and white.
With applicants from a mix of local graphic design legends, award winning illustrators, fresh and raw talent, the Ink Dot team selects the most innovative prints to create an exciting exhibition of work. We pride ourselves on a fair and alternative view to curating work by designers.
All Ink Dot prints are for sale as an edition of 50 and are available from Howies store and through www.ink-dot.co.uk. All works are A2 Gieclee posters, printed by Hello Blue from Spike Design.
We hope that our summer show replicates the tremendous success of our Christmas show, the private view of which brought the largest crowd howies have ever had for an event.
