RODI TOOL DEVELOPMENT - EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST SOUGHT FROM POTENTIAL DEVELOPMENT PARTNERS
Invitation to tender: RoDI Tool – Deadline 5pm Jan 27th, 2011.
The South West Design Forum, in conjunction with The Design Programme, is commissioning the development of an online tool that will help communications designers and their clients to plan for and measure the impact of the work produced (Return on Design Investment, or RoDI for short).
The development of the tool has so far undergone 3 stages:
1. Initial research, produced by MBA students at the University of West of England
2. Multi-disciplinary user-centred design workshop, held at Dartington Hall in April 2010
3. Creation of a functional specification that defines the tool’s process requirements
We are now proceeding to step 4 – design and build of the first prototype tool, and this tender will deliver that prototype. The tender is split into 2 lots (Design and Build), and we are now seeking expressions of interest from potential partners who are able to deliver one or both lots.
Following the completion of this tender, we aim to enter a period of alpha testing, to identify and address fitness for purpose and any major issues that may impact the likely success of the tool.
Attached to this post is the brief, along with 3 key supporting documents (appendices), that are the outputs from the 3 steps already completed.
If you would like to be considered for one or both lots, please email your expression of interest to chair@swdf.co.uk no later than 5pm on Thursday January 27th, 2011. Expressions of interest should be no more than a single A4 page (.pdf, .doc or .txt file formats), with type set no smaller than 11pt, and should address the following considerations:
1. Your skills and capabilities to respond to the brief successfully
2. Your approach to the development of the tool
3 The issues that you feel represent the greatest pitfalls or obstacles to the successful development of the tool
4. Previous projects that offer some valuable parallels with the challenge presented here
5. How you would plan to manage resources and costs, given that we envisage the budget for delivering both lots to be no more than £20,000 (Excluding VAT).
Potential partners will be shortlisted from the expressions received, for subsequent interview by the steering group. We envisage that work should commence in February, with a desired delivery date for the first iteration of the tool in May 2011
