Box & Pad is the design consultancy of Kevin Jenkins MA. Since completing my Ma in Furniture design at Buckinghamshire college, High Wycombe in 1997 I have worked as a designer of contract and office seating, desking and other furniture, before moving on to retail furniture and fixtures. I am now designing a range of items in different materials and for different markets, not all of them furniture related.

In the course of this work I have designed for injection moulding, die casting, wood, metal and plastic fabrication. I have worked with suppliers around the globe to develop new products and I have managed developments through prototyping, testing to BS and EU standards, sourcing suppliers and taking the products through into production on the shop floor.

I believe that good design should ideally bring together efficient manufacturing, elegant aesthetics, environmentally neutral production, positive haptic and ergonomic experience and a reminder that we like certain things because we are human, and that sometimes that is enough.
